RIVER TRANSPORTATION BY BARGE

A barge is a flat-bottomed boat, built mainly for river and canal transport of commodity.
Some barges are not self-propelled and need to be towed or pushed by towboats.
In fact, a single barge can hold as much cargo as 3,000 - 8,000 Metric Ton. Towboats also
offer greater fuel efficiency than other modes of transportation, and as a result, they allow for cleaner air and reduced emissions.
